Bulky calves is a difficult job especially if the genetic background for this character is not supporting that. You may walk around or bike all day and still nothing works to help you get a bigger calf muscle that you have. Some of the famous body builders have troubles with making their calves get bigger. Although they can make the muscles firm and strong but they may still be scrawny. Sometimes some hard and tough exercises for the quadriceps can get things better some of these include the running up of the stairs. Also power jumping in some games like basket ball or jumping the rope is of great help. The use of very heavy calf raises add to the efficacy of these exercises and help to overcome the bad genetic buildup and help build a big calf muscle.

If those exercises did not help build up bigger quadriceps muscles you can try other exercises that are more tough and that may affect your ability to walk after performing them. These are the drop sets.
In the drop sets you use decreasing weights on your calf raising machine. So each time you make a decrease of ten pounds and do the same number of repetition you are used to do on a calf raise machine and will help build a big calf muscle.
This may help give you get a bigger calf muscles but you must have a strong will and be determined to carry on these tough exercises even u feel bad pain and inability to walk for a while after these exercises. These are far more effective than the regular calf raises and if u persist the results will be amazing
